Art’s Equinox-O Orienteering Meet

Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Russian Jack Trails

We had a great turnout for out penultimate meet of the season, even more impressive as it was nestled between two early snowstorms. Participants had 45 minutes to find as many controls as possible and return to the finish on time, otherwise risking a hefty 30-point penalty for each minute late. Many sprinted out for the cluster of distant 50-point controls only to lose significant points for late arrivals. Also factoring into the calculations was the fact that, during the last 10 minutes, they could remove one control and bring it back for double points. Ian Moore came back on time and close to the maximum points possible, making him the overall winner on the night. Jen Jolliff accrued the most points for the women. Dorn Van Dommelen and Asa Jester won the team division. Thank you to everyone who helped put on the meet and took down controls both during, and especially after, the event.
