Date: Wednesday, September 22nd
Time: 6pm Mass Start
Location: 939 Pine Street Anchorage, AK 99508
The air is crisp and the fall colors in Russian Jack Park are magical! Please join us 45-minute Score-O style event with a twist (see below). Meet at the covered picnic shelter on the E side of the paved lot off of Pine Street (same lot as the skate park and the cool polar bear slide). Directly after the meet at the shelter we will have theĀ annual meeting with pizza, door prizes, awards, and more! You could even become a board member!
Please try to arrive a little early so you have time to sign in before the mass start. We also recommend bringing some warmer clothes to put on during the meeting portion of the event.
Important Safety Notice: Please bring a mask to wear in the start/finish area and try to maintain 6′ of distance between family groups. Thank you!
Meet Details: As mentioned above, the Score-O has a 45 minute time limit. As usual, you can visit the controls in any order, making sure you are back to the start before time is up. However, in this event, you will be able to remove ONE control off the course during the last 15 minutes before time. You will get double points for bringing this control back to the start. That control is now out of play for the rest of the event. This accomplishes two things. First, it is a fun (hopefully!) twist that adds to the strategy of the event. Which control will you pick? What happens if it is already gone when you get there? Second, it means most of the controls are picked up at the end of time and meet volunteers can also participate in the annual meeting (thank you). Veterans will remember that usually in this kind of score-o it has been OK to catch the now mobile control and get points for it, but this time we are going to try to observe social distancing by leaving that rule out.
As always, be prepared and on the lookout for the usual hazards (bear, moose, dogs, people)!
