Traditional @ McHugh on Wed May 7th

Once again, we kick off our season with a meet at one of our most scenic venues! Come out to the first orienteering meet of the year at McHugh Creek on Wednesday (5/7/25) evening to enjoy the spectacular views and challenging orienteering. Courses will be on the shorter side as it’s the first meet of the season, but still expect some elevation and spiky brush for the longer courses (it is Mchugh Creek after all).

  • McHugh Creek day use area is off the Seward Highway. Follow the road up to the middle parking lot to find us. Please remember that the lot  is pay to park, so bring $5 or a State Park pass.
  • Starts from 5pm to 7pm. You need to finish by 8:30pm, and the gate closes at 9pm.
  • Bear spray and long pants are recommended. Please be mindful of orienteers, others, and wildlife.
  • Remember your typical orienteering gear to speed up the process. You can complete your season waiver and pay online for a season pass or single event, and don’t forget to bring your punch stick, compass, whistle, and lots of enthusiasm.
