The air is crisp and the fall colors in Russian Jack park are magical! Please join us 45-minute Score-O style event with a mass start at 6pm and a twist (see below). Park near the Russian Jack Chalet following the signs down the bike path and across the bridge to the start location.
Directly after the meet at 7pm at the chalet we will have the annual meeting with pizza, fabulous door prizes, awards, and more! You could even become a board member!
Please try to arrive a little early so you have time to get to the start area and to sign in before the 6pm mass start. We also recommend bringing some dry clothes to put on for the meeting portion of the event.
Meet Details – General Course Rules
- The Fairways are Lava!: Russian Jack is an active golf course and all parts of it are marked out of bounds with a magenta crosshatch on the map. Do not enter!
- Cross and Double Cross: If you choose to cross Debarr road during the event you must cross at either the tunnel near Boniface and Debarr, or at the crosswalk at Pine & Debarr, using the pedestrian signal. Both crossing points are marked on the map
- First 30 Minutes–Regular Score-O: There are 25 controls on the course. As usual, you can visit the controls in any order, making sure you are back to the start before time is up. Each control is worth a different amount of points, based on the number in the tens place (#24=20pts; #55=50pts, for example).
- Last 15 Minutes–Score-O Meets Hide-and-Seek Tag:
During the last 15 minutes, you will be able to remove ONE (only!) control off the course. You will get double points for bringing this control back to the start. You must carry the control visibly in your hand as you travel. As you make your way back to the start however, if anyone tags you (or any member of your group), you must stop and let them punch the control, IF they haven’t already visited that control in the first 30 minutes. You don’t get any extra points for catching someone with a control you already punched. You can tag as many people carrying controls as you can. If you choose to pick up a control, you may not tag anyone else carrying a control. There will be a “safe” area marked with pin flags around the finish area where tagging is not allowed.
- Late Penalty: 10pts for every minute late after the 45 minutes have elapsed.
- Safety Notes: As always, be on the lookout for the usual hazards (bear, moose, dogs, people)! There are several active camps in the park, as well as abandoned ones. The course was designed to avoid these areas as much as possible, but people move and your route choice may bring you into contact.
