Over 40 individuals and teams took advantage of the brief break from the rain to duck, dive, turn, slip, and slide their way through Earthquake Park.
For the long course, Scott Patterson managed to hold onto his overall sprint series lead after starting only 25 seconds ahead of Ian Moore. However, Ian claimed the fastest time of the day finishing in 35:43 compared to Scott’s 35:46. Lindsey Flagstad furthered her lead finishing in 48:13 compared to Jen Joliliff’s 56:15.
On the short course, Lukas Stutzer posted the fastest time of the day in 35:54. Followed by Mike Still in 52:33 and Rachel Hannah in 57:20.
Team Long ironically had the fastest time on the white course, 23:54.

Final Pursuit Results
Congratulations to the 16 orienteers who participated in the final sprint pursuit at Allan’s Earthquake Park Mud-O!
The finish was quite close. Ian Moore caught Scott Patterson on the course and they raced much of it together. But, in the end, younger legs prevailed and Scott beat Ian in the final sprint from the last control to the finish. So, our winner was Scott, but Ian was a close second and easily won the Men’s 50-59 age category, which had the greatest number of participants.
Lindsey Flagstad won the women’s sprint but Jen Jolliff won the women’s 50-59 age grouping and came in as the second woman.
In the youth division, Springer Moore, who came in fourth overall, won and showed dramatic improvement over earlier races. It’s just a matter of time before he’s running competitively against his father!
Aaron Gast, in his first season, won the men’s 40-49 grouping, Iona Snyder won the youth-women’s division. Brittany Hippe won women 18-29, with her mother, Shelly Laws, won the women’s senior division. Steve McKeever won the men’s senior division.
