After more than 55 years of running, hiking, biking and skiing the trails and hills of southcentral Alaska, I’m thrilled when orienteering takes me to a new trail I haven’t been on, a patch of woods I’ve never been in, or a hilltop I haven’t climbed. I’m happy to help others experience that same excitement and joy. And to feel that great sense of accomplishment when a control is finally FOUND!
The Administrative Vice-President shall assist the President and shall assume the duties of the President in the President’s absence.

I have been a cartophile since I was a boy, collecting maps and dreaming of exploring them. That love of maps led me to a love of the outdoors. I grew up as a hiker and now love to explore Alaska, the place I’ve called home for 25 years, by foot and ski. I am a geography professor at UAA and, as an orienteer, have thrown myself into orienteering cartography.
The Vice President of Mapping shall identify and review locations suitable for Club events and coordinate the preparation of suitable maps.

Ian Moore
Email Ian
Ian has been active with the orienteering club since its start in the 1980s and has won the season championships more than 25 times. He loves
exploring new areas and making maps of them for orienteering. He does mapping professionally through his business Alaska Map Science.
