Events Survey Report

Hello Arctic Orienteers,

Over 60 people participated in the events survey and we learned a few important things that will guide the events planning for 2026:

  1. Holding eight traditional meets is very important. There will be no change and the last traditional meet of the year will be in conjunction with another festival in late June
  2. There is a lot of support for winter meets. We are already working with NSAA to put on as many as three Kincaid Ski-Os, tentatively planned for January 18, March 1, and March 29. Mark your calendars!
  3. We will reduce the number of sprints in favor of other events like Score-Os, Mountain/Adventure-Os and Bike-Os.

Note that while a few changes are coming, much of the structure of the year will stay the same. Traditional-Os work best in the late spring and early summer before brush and bears get too bad. The sprints and Score-Os are best suited to later summer and early autumn.
