Hello Arctic Orienteers,
Over 60 people participated in the events survey and we learned a few important things that will guide the events planning for 2026:
- Holding eight traditional meets is very important. There will be no change and the last traditional meet of the year will be in conjunction with another festival in late June
- There is a lot of support for winter meets. We are already working with NSAA to put on as many as three Kincaid Ski-Os, tentatively planned for January 18, March 1, and March 29. Mark your calendars!
- We will reduce the number of sprints in favor of other events like Score-Os, Mountain/Adventure-Os and Bike-Os.
Note that while a few changes are coming, much of the structure of the year will stay the same. Traditional-Os work best in the late spring and early summer before brush and bears get too bad. The sprints and Score-Os are best suited to later summer and early autumn.
