Results from FNBP Mile 2.2

We had great weather and a great turnout for fun orienteering at Mile 2.2. As usual many great stories at the finish area including Springer setting the record for nearly going waist deep in water on a dubious route choice but his clever move was running across a big swamp, waking up a bear and telling him to wait for Alan who was hot in trail, causing Alan to lose time finding an alternative route! Hah, lesson learned, don’t chase Springer – hard to catch and crafty! 🙂

Julia was blasting around the Red course when a moose decided she was too fast so the moose intervened at control 10, chased her so far off her route that she called it a day. One competitor in a team event with his mom, lost his phone, they back tracked over 30 minutes and found it!

Thank you to so many volunteers that stepped up to help: Springer drew up white and yellow courses and helped at the finish, Lexi and Ann managed the registration through the rush hour – they are total pros – Dela nailed the snacks with every last bit consumed save about 3 pretzels, Ian provided many last minute map updates and help with all things digital, Bill, Alex, Lexi, Dela and Scott all helped retrieve controls and Ellyn helped vet control locations before the event. Without all the help this meet wouldn’t have happened!
