Time: 5:00 – 7:00 pm starts; must be done by 8:30pm
Location: Alaska Pacific University 4301 University Dr
Come enjoy Anchorage’s transition to a temperate rainforest this Wednesday, August 30 at Alaska Pacific University. There will be two sprint-style orienteering courses: a 2.0k Short with 10 controls and a 4.0k Long with 20 controls. You’ll get the fun of running around campus and a fantastic mix of wooded ski trails and singletrack. Both courses fluctuate between beginner and intermediate levels in navigational difficulty. The nice thing for newer orienteerers is that the more intermediate controls are bounded on all sides by trails, so it’s a safe space to experiment with bold route choices and some cunning running!
This meet is the penultimate event in our Sprint Series, so if you haven’t finished two long sprint courses yet, this is your last chance to be a part of next week’s Championship Pursuit (though you can still participate in the Open event) at Bartlett HS.
The start/finish will be in the lot on the opposite side of University Drive from the Mosley Sports Center. There will be signs out to direct you.
The meet director is looking for a volunteer or two to help with the meet table (we can do shifts so you can still do the course), as well as people willing to take down controls after the meet. Respond to this email if you can help!
