This week we will be hosting an Alaskan first, the Sketch-O! Led by artist and orienteer Max Romey this is the meet equivalent of finding a lost sketchbook on the ground and retracing the steps of the paintings on the pages with only the map on the back of the book. You will know you are in the right place when the sketch lines up perfectly with the background, like a puzzle piece. Instead of punching a paper to prove you were there, you will simply take a photo with everything lined up (so don’t forget a phone or small camera to take with you). This is a fun course with a creative twist that feels like a mix between orienteering and I Spy, but does not require any creative talent or sketching yourself.

We will start at the Russian Jack Springs Chalet parking lot on Wednesday from 5pm – 7pm. There will be a short and a long course and the winners of each will receive an original watercolor as a prize. You will receive the booklet of sketches and a loose map at the start, but you will need a camera or phone to take pictures for your score.
