At 5 pm Friday, it was reported that S9 is missing. I will try to check M1 and S9 Friday evening unless I hear that someone else has either found or replaced them. Thanks for the feedback!
Tried twice, but could not locate sta 12 on the advanced long course. Also couldn’t find sta 16 which I thought would be a no-brainer. Otherwise great course giving me lots of dead reckoning/pacing practice. Joe Kurtak
Assume flagging no longer exists at S9.
It’s entirely possible that the spur we flagged for #12 on Adv Long course (#8 on Adv Shorter) is farther downslope (NW) than what is shown in the map.
On advanced long course it seemed all flags were in correct place (unfortunately I often wasn’t) at all controls. Thanks!
BTW I thought I heard a goshawk screeching to the south of me between controls 7 & 8 (towards 11) giving me PTSD from an attack a few years ago. Be wary in that region.
Mary’s and my plan to do the long course on Saturday was thwarted by the largest swarm of mosquitoes I’ve ever encountered anywhere, that followed us for the entire course. Apparently my essential oil bug repellant that’s a couple years old is now an attractant! Mary’s 30% DEET didn’t work either. It’s really hard to follow a bearing when you have to use both hands to swat the buggers constantly. So by the time we got to L7 we both decided to bag the long course and salvage the medium (plus one control – L6 – that wasn’t on advanced shorter). That’s the only reason for the lower Fun rating, but the course itself was excellent. Thanks Anne and Dan!
Anne & Dan’s courses at FNBP Mile 1.1 are available for download. I should have the course up in RouteGadget later this afternoon.
Anyone lose a black Hestra glove on the northeast section of the long course? I meant to leave it at the trailhead, but accidentally took it with me.
I lost a bear spray if anyone runs into one. Black and white label.

M1 and S9 are in place.

Gave it a 2nd try and found both #12 and #16. Poor map interpretation on my part for #16. Thanks much for a great course.
Thanks for good training tips. Wonderful weather, despite the nasty bugs!! We had fun, my grandson and I on the shorter course.
We could not find S9 as of Saturday evening, 6 pm. Three of us searched all depressions to the west of the trail between 8 & 9.

I had to go significantly north of where my pace count sent me, and slightly west.
We actually had to go south of where we’d expected to find the spur but did find it in place on Saturday.
I put flagging out at S9 on Sunday evening while I was out on the short course with some friends.
When will the flagging be removed? Curious if we have time to give it another try tomorrow. Thanks!

Also hard to read map with mosquitoes trying to get in your eyes.
