Traditional @ Mile 1.1 Campbell Airstrip Rd on Wed June 10th

Location: Traditional meet at Campbell Airstrip Road MP 1.1, (CAT Bridge) Far North Bicentennial Park

Date: Wednesday, June 10th

Time: Starts from 5-7 pm. Please finish by 9 pm.

The club is restricted to parking only five cars in the BLM portion of the parking lot.  Please carpool or bike to the start if you can. Park as close to Basher Road as you can if you do drive and avoid the area to the south and west of the pink line shown in this image, which is the BLM portion of the parking. The rest is MOA property. We will try to flag the boundary before the event. Other possible parking areas include Benny Benson Elementary, Mile 2.2, Smokejumper.

Summer has arrived and so have the mosquitoes. Vegetation remains low, and visibility is still good. Most of the course is remarkably dry, and many of the seasonal drainages are completely dry.

  • Starts from 5 pm to 7 pm. Finish by 9 pm
  • Please be aware of wildlife and other trail users. Assume any moose may have newborn calves nearby and therefore be especially protective. Bear spray recommended. Signs of bears were spotted during course design and setup.
  • Bring your punch stick, compass, and whistle.

The White, Yellow, and Orange courses should offer a pleasant experience for younger participants as they navigate the trails around the Campbell Creek Science Center. The Green and Red courses are a little on the long side but should run quick, as many of the controls offer short attack points off of trails.

Courses lengths:

  • White – 8 controls, 1.9 km
  • Yellow –  11 controls, 2.5 km
  • Orange – 13 controls, 4.5 km
  • Green – 13 controls, 5.7 km
  • Red – 16 controls, 7.6 km
