The UAA Sprint and Pursuit Championship meet on Wednesday, September 24th is followed by our annual meeting (open to all!) in Beatrice McDonald Hall, ~7:20. Pizza, drinks and Club Business!
Anyone can participate in the final sprint event at UAA, but for those of you interested in the pursuit racing series, here’s the final update:
We now have final positions established for the sprint pursuit next week. A total of 24 orienteers participated in at least two sprints. Our director for the final participated in all five but, alas, he can’t be in the final, though his time is listed, along with Springer’s who refuses to fly back from college just for this one event.
Most orienteers who are qualified will participate in the open event, but a few will be a part of the pursuit, as we established last year. There will be three waves: The championship waves of the top three or four men and women and then a consolation wave for the men. Here are the waves and other qualifiers. Both championship pursuits have some intriguing possibilities and there are a few good grudge match set ups in the men’s consolation run. Note that starts for orienteers in the open category may need to delay a bit to allow the waves to begin in their proper order.
