Mountain-O!

Run through the hills like sheep this Saturday for Bill and Steve’s Mountain Sore (not Score)-O, a mini-rogaine in the Front Range of the Chugach. Controls have been set far, wide and high with participants choosing to reach as many as they can in their choice of three durations: one hour, three hours and five hours. There will be mass starts at 10 am, 11 am and noon. As in a Score-O each control will have a point value, depending on the distance and difficulty in reaching the control. And penalties will be assessed for those who return to the start after the allotted time period. The winners in each of the three durations will be the persons or team with the most points.

Those choosing the five hour duration event must start at 10 am; those choosing the shorter durations may start at any of the three times. All participants must be done and back at the start by 4 pm. Please arrive well before your start time to register. Glen Alps may be crowded with parking spaces at a premium on Saturday, so car pooling is encouraged.

Please come prepared for travel in the wilderness. Consider bringing a first aid kit, bear spray, extra clothing, food, water, etc. Consider grippers (i.e. Katulas) if slopes are wet and slippery. Note that some of the controls will be out of cell phone range.

Leave the finger sticks at home – this will be a traditional manual punch event. There will be no SPORident results, but the event is linked to LiveLox:
