Results for Kathy Memorial – O

Kathy’s Memorial-O: 78 people came out to enjoy an evening of orienteering at Service High, and to remember Kathy Faryniarz. The evening was blustery – we had to take the tent down – but also not rainy so we didn’t need the tent. It was a banner night for teams – only a few in Red and Green but many in the other three courses. Springer Moore was the fastest of 13 racers on the 5.3 km red course, followed by Scott Patterson and Ian Moore; Jen Jolliff was the fastest woman. Todd Shearer and Julia Ditto won Green (4.3 km); Jane Malouf won Orange, followed by Rowan Shearer and Team and the Wise Sloths – there were 10 teams among the 20 Orange course competitors. John Wolfe won Yellow, followed by Team Oswald and Team Elizabeth; 15 of 20 Orange competitors were teams. Fred Stutzer won White, ealized he wanted more challenge and went back out on Orange; Team Long and The Legend and the Compass Pros were second and third on white.

Joyce Goodell and Mark Selland brought swag (headbands, hats…) and treats for after the race, and helped with setup and then at the table with registration and maps; Joe Kurtak parked his VW van for a windbreak for the table so we could actually have a meet.

Corrie Whitmore provided endless help planning, walking, considering, planning again and finally setting controls; Regan Sarwas vetted the red and green courses, Mike Robinson, Corrie (again), and Steve McKeever retrieved controls.
