Sprint Series Update

After the first three races, the sprint series is starting to take shape. Fourteen orienteers have qualified for the final event, to be held on September 25th just before the club’s annual meeting. Remember that the final championship is a pursuit. A group of orienteers (last year it was the top 18) will begin the race based on the times listed below. The first back wins!

There is still one more sprint race, Wednesday at Kincaid, to qualify or improve your position. There are eighteen orienteers who can still squeeze in that second race and qualify.

Here are the current standings. Times are based on the best two times against the “Superman”. The Superman time is calculated by taking the fastest legs of any race and combining them. For each of the sprint events, the Superman times are normalized. Hopefully this all makes sense.
