Where: Ruth Arcand Park shelter
When: Start between 5pm and 7pm. Finish by 8pm.
Join us at Ruth Arcand Park for a training meet. There is still a bit of snow in the woods, but it is generally avoidable.
For beginners, Mark Findlay will be giving two 20 minute training sessions starting at 5:15pm and 5:45pm. Also, there is an introduction to orienteering class on Tuesday.
We will have some additional volunteer trainers available to take participants out on 5 different courses. You are also welcome to tackle courses on your own:
- Compass: 0.7 km, 5 controls on a whited out map
- Corridor: 1.3 km, 8 controls; stay within the drawn corridor!
- Short: 1.6 km, 11 controls
- Medium: 2.3 km, 14 controls
- Long: 3.1 km, 13 controls
If this is your first meet of the season, here are a few things you can do to prepare:
- Fill out the season waiver for you or your family.
- Buy a season pass for you or your family.
- Buy a finger stick for electronic timing if you have not already done so. This year we will start charging $5 for stick rentals (see details) so just buy a stick.
