We kick off our season with a meet at one of our most scenic venues! Come out to the first on foot orienteering meet of the year at McHugh Creek on Wednesday evening to enjoy the spectacular views and challenging orienteering.
- McHugh Creek day use area is off the Seward Highway. Some construction is occuring in the lower lot, follow the road up to the middle parking lot to find us. Please remember that the lot is pay to park, so bring $5 or a State Park pass.
- Starts from 5pm to 7pm. You need to finish by 8:30pm, gate closes at 9pm.
- Bear spray and long pants are recommended. Please be mindful of orienteers, others, and wildlife.
We’ll have five traditional courses for all ages and abilities. We’ve kept the courses on the shorter side to take the elevation gain and vegetation into account while still taking you to some of the many cool places on this map!
- White – 5 controls, 0.9 km
- Yellow – 8 controls, 1.4 km
- Orange – 12 controls, 2.5 km
- Green – 14 controls, 3.1 km
- Red – 18 controls, 4.5 km
If you have not done so already, please fill out the season waiver. You can also pay online for a season pass or just this event.
