Gary’s Ski Orienteering Kincaid Park April 3 2024

It was perfect conditions at Kincaid for the ski O: new powder on top of a slight crust, warm and no wind.

Participants included beginners, kids, groups of teenagers, veteran orienteers, a handful of elite and Olympic skiers and all kinds in between. Scott Patterson, fresh off the world cup ski season, won the 7.1 km long course in 41:28. APU Coach Galen Johnson led the 3.7 km medium course in 42:30, topping all of his devo skiers, most of whom skied on one team together. The short course had a few DNF’s and one group who didn’t turn in a time card, so there are no results for that.

Thanks to the clean up and flag pulling crew of Paul Stone, Peter Hines, Elias Keck, Tamra Kornfield and Heather Ireland. This made cleaning up from the meet a lot faster. Rumor has it there may be another impromptu ski orienteering next week, so keep a lookout.
