Orienteers,
This week’s event is a celebration of all the new, young orienteers who are joining our ranks. For those of you who don’t know, the club is sponsoring a week-long orienteering camp, organized by Jen and Ian, at UAA from June 12-16. In addition to these campers, the club has, of course, a cadre of other young orienteers who are beginning to challenge the older folks, and a number of orienteers in their 20s and 30s who have been regularly put the elders in their place.
We’re going to fete these great orienteers, particularly the teens, many of whom are volunteering as counselors-in-training this week, with a sort of normal event followed by a social. To get our stars to align and to help the meet director, who is volunteering at the camp, starts will be bunched beginning at 6 p.m. Come early (set up should be ready at 5:30) to register and get ready to run and then set off between 6 and 6:20.
Courses will include White, Yellow, Orange, Green/Red, and Blue
The meet start will be on the west side of the UAA campus near the Beatrice McDonald Hall.
After our courses are complete, we’ll have a party and social beginning around 7:30. Cake and other refreshments will be provided.
To recap:
Starts from 6-6:20, but come early (5:30 and on) to register and get ready to go!
