It was a sunny and warm evening for the 40 individuals and 11 teams that went out for a quick run around Ruth Arcand Park. Short legs between the 13 to 20 controls made for quick decision making of route choices.

Short course: Ivan Hodes won the men’s and Catherine Kilby won the woman’s. Daughters of Norway won the team.

Medium: Springer Moore won the men’s, Iona Snyder won the women’s and the Jipping family won the team.

Long: Fast men and woman flew through the long with Alan Spangler winning the men’s, Jen Jolliff winning the women’s and Lukas and Kayla winning the team.

The flagging, 10″ of yellow survey tape with MF and the control number, for the long course will be left up until Wednesday morning if you’d like to grab some friends and go out and do some training. The tree for 3A or #39 is not flagged. You will need to print out the map. Please yield to the horses if you come across them on the trail. And remember you cannot go over or under any fencing. If you’d like to practice walking a compass bearing through the woods 5B to 6B, 9A to 7A, 7A to 7B, 7B to 8A and 8A to 8B all have good catch features and good places to experiment.

Long course orienteers can compare route choices by analyzing which control (A or B) an orienteer took on each dog leg. Please add your route to Route Gadget so that others can analyze the race and learn for your choices.
