Public Meetings for Draft Recreation Area Management Plan for BLM Campbell Tract

The Bureau of Land Management just released a draft Recreation Area Management Plan (RAMP) for the Campbell Tract and is seeking public comment through April 20th, including two public meetings via Zoom on March 22nd and March 24th.  The draft RAMP contains a mix of proposals, some of which may be beneficial or neutral for orienteering and others which may further erode the preservation of natural spaces for off-trail running and walking.

Here are some of the specifics:

  • A future year-round, single-track trail;
  • The authorization of future routine trail and road maintenance of proposed and existing trails and roads;
  • The authorization of (pedal assist) E-bikes on CT;
  • To incorporate, authorize, and limit winter-only single-track trails;
  • To remove hazard trees near parking areas, roads, trails, and buildings;
  • A future Campbell Airstrip Trailhead (CAT) parking area improvement; and
  • A process to manage the permitting of events and use at CT.

You can read all the planning documents and submit public comments here until April 20th:

Virtual public meetings presenting the draft RAMP plan are scheduled on Zoom for March 22 at 6 p.m. and March 24 at 2 p.m. To sign up for the virtual public meetings, visit:
