Date: Wednesday, June 16th
Time: Mass start at 6pm; must be done by 9:00pm
Location: Storck Park at 7200 Clark’s Road. From the New Seward highway, exit Rabbit Creek Rd. Head east on Rabbit Creek Rd, turn right on to Clark’s Road.
In normal orienteering, it is frowned upon to tuck one’s map into one’s pants and follow another competitor. The Billy Goat is not, however, normal orienteering. Following is explicitly permitted, condoned, and some even say encouraged. If you can follow somebody to glory, all the more power to you! This event begins with a mass start at 6pm so please get there with plenty of time to sign up for the course you want.
Storck Park is a beautiful and hilly venue with great views and sometimes challenging terrain. There will be three courses to choose from:
- Billy Goat Gruff – 5.4km 16 controls, you may skip one control. While the navigation leans towards orange level, the hills and off-trail terrain can make this course challenging.
- Billy Goat Wee – 3.2km 9 controls, you may skip one control. Orange level navigation, not as hilly or long as Gruff.
- Pygmy Goat – 2.7km 11 controls. White level navigation, suitable for all levels. No hills!
Introductory training
There will be training for available at this meet! If you are interested please RSVP and meet at the start area at 5:15.
Covid protocols
Participants are not required to wear masks in the start/finish area or out on the course.
However, the club does recommend wearing masks when within six feet of the unvaccinated. Be mindful that many younger children are not vaccinated.
Volunteers working in the start/finish area will be wearing masks.
Think Fast, Think Fun, Think Orienteering!
