The early stages of a large gravel pit are currently underway, threatening the Matanuska Greenbelt (i.e. Crevasse Morraine) with irreversible damage. The University of Alaska owns the land where the gravel pit is beginning to be developed. Save the Matanuska Greenbelt is a group of stakeholders that has organized to oppose this development.
