This Friday was an extremely enjoyable day to be out. The long course takes a nice roundabout stroll (in my case) of both university campuses and a stretch over to Goose Lake, too. I found blueberries between #8 & #9. That was fun.
The only problem I ran into was that the light green tape marking the controls blended in so well with the greenery of late summer that I could actually be standing right next to it and not see it. Would recommend orange or red tape so it stands out.
The “yellow” tape was much more yellow rolled up on the roll. Yes, we discovered it looked a lot lighter when we were hanging it. Wont use it again, I promise.
These trails are fantastic! There are a few that I’ve never been on (that I recall anyway). I was bummed about all the trash I saw near/on the way to #7 on the long course (heading from the main bike path paralleling No. Lts, from N to S, the trash was to the E). I don’t know if it was an active homeless camp or not because I didn’t stick around to find out. No persons/movement noted on Saturday.
Took two tries to find #7 on the long course. The trails shown on the map coming in from N. Lights were hard to identify due to the late summer tall grass. Ended up coming in from the Goose Lake side on a more well defined trail. The green ribbons made locating the controls challenging.
thanks for feed back yes we set from goose lake and used green yellow as we are told that red green handicapped a few folks who were color blind so there ya go
I liked the flag/tape color. I could see every control when I was within 10 or more meters very nicely. I can’t tell you what color the tape was, at some controls the tape looked yellow and at others it looked green. I would love it if this color was one of the tape colors used. Maybe yellow and a red tape at each control. Nice course.
