Chugach State Park, Upper O’Malley Trailhead
Beautiful and warm summer conditions and challenging running faced the ninety-eight runners that came out for Trond’s orienteering meet on Wednesday evening. The meet accessed the Chugach State Park trails and terrain from the Upper O’Malley Trailhead with the new Hemlock Knob orienteering map. Jen Jolliff and Cory Smith won the women’s and men’s Red courses. Brita Mjos and Tyler Boyes had the fastest team time on the Red course. There was only one reported bear encounter. The bear behaved as a good bear should; it disappeared into the woods without any further trouble.
