Capture-the-Flag Orienteering

Thirty intrepid souls braved rain and wind to participate in the first-ever Capture-the-Flag-O, held Wednesday evening at Kincaid. Participants included a few seasoned orienteers, some newbies, and most of Boy Scout Troop 129. Fun was had on each of three different “courses”, an easier open-field course called “Old Glory”, a wooded, but runnable, “Betsy Ross” course, and, the crowd favorite “Star-Spangled Banner”, that was riddled with devil’s club and alder, allowing for lots of sneaking around as players tried to punch the other side’s controls. More than a few folks were tagged by the opposing team and sent “to jail”, where they gained release by completing a short orienteering exercise. Thanks to volunteers Shelly, Mark, Puck, Sarah, and Diane for helping to run the games and register participants.
