in the Chugach Mountains
Cory Smith prevailed against wind, rain, and a strong field of runners to win the Mountain Goat Race. The race challenged runners to navigate through a 20+ km loop through the Chugach Mountains above Anchorage. Each segment of the race offered choices of routes so the competitors sometimes didn’t see other runners until they showed up at a subsequent checkpoint.
