Far North Bicentennial Park
Approximately 100 people turned out to navigate trails, open forests, and thickets Wednesday evening. Orienteers started and finished at the North Bivouac Trailhead at Mile 2.2 of Campbell Airstrip Road. Participants encountered moose and newborn calves during their forays in the woods. Ian Moore topped all competitors on the 6.8-kilometer expert course with a time of 67 minutes and 39 seconds, husband Dave Evans and his wife Diana Evans teamed together to top the 5.7-kilometer green course competitors with a time of 74:48, and Mark Findlay led participants on the 4.1-kilometer intermediate orange course with a time of 90:44. But the closest race of the evening was the 3.4-kilometer yellow course, where Agneta Kupilik finished in 53:42, beating the team of Nick Roth and Chris Tomsen by 4:23.
