Klutina Drive � Pia North & South Maps
About 57 dedicated orienteerers dotted their i’s and crossed their t’s to enjoy an evening of orienteering on JBER land starting from Klutina Drive on the Pia maps. Numerous black bears were sighted on the course without incident, as well as a few moose. An unfortunate encounter with a wasp’s nest resulting in multiple stings was also reported. Due to some misplaced controls on the red and green courses, this meet will be considered a training event and not be counted for season points.
Thank you to Mike Robinson for helping to hang final controls and enabling us to pull off this meet, Chris Tomsen for helping coordinate permission to use military land and setting up the start area, Vera Tomsen for providing a fully-stocked snack station with fresh fruit and and assortment of other tasty treats, Eric Follett for helping staff the table and helping with time-keeping, and Cole Talbot for helping retrieve controls.
