Planning for an Orienteering Festival This Summer

The club’s board has been busy planning events for the upcoming season.  One of the ideas we are investigating is having 2-day orienteering festival over the course of a weekend this summer.  After considering several options, we have identified the Hatcher Pass and the Willow Creek State Recreation Area as a possible venue.  We think we can create orienteering maps for this area and hold maybe three events:

  • Mountain-O in the alpine Hatcher Pass area
  • Traditional meet in the Willow Creek area
  • Sprint meet, maybe at the Independence Mine

The events would be on Saturday and Sunday.  We would identify a location in the area where people that wanted to could camp on Saturday night.

But before we spend time and effort on organizing a festival, we thought it would be best to gauge everyone’s interest.  Please take a moment to fill out this very brief survey to let us know if this idea appeals to you, or not.
